In recent years we have seen amazing advances in the field of conversational artificial intelligence (AI), or computer conversation. We are now seeing close to 100 million devices in homes that can understand spoken queries and provide useful spoken responses in return. Because of this, there’s a tendency amongst many who are not intimately familiar with the latest developments in the field to think that a lot of the underlying problems of computer conversation have been solved.
Even within the field of AI, most people believe that machine learning is going to solve all of the problems of conversational dialog. But in reality, we are starting to see that deep learning may not be the general solution to all problems in the field and that, instead, creating amazing tools for designers of conversational systems will be the way that we can leap forward into a world that’s populated with delightful and seamless conversational experiences.
Download this white paper to learn about the three big remaining challenges that must be overcome to allow us to take that leap forward.
